About
Welcome to Guadalajarra, a hidden gem nestled in the picturesque Vereda el Placer of Santa Elena, Medellín, Colombia. This quaint eatery captures the essence of Mexican cuisine while weaving in local Colombian flavors, creating a delightful fusion that has quickly garnered rave reviews from patrons.
At Guadalajarra, guests are treated to a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel at home from the moment you step in. The warm and inviting outdoor seating, adorned with large trees, offers a charming backdrop for a relaxed dining experience. Here, you can enjoy live music that complements the vibrant decor, featuring a mix of Mexican motifs and nostalgic 90s soft rock hits.
The extensive menu showcases a variety of dishes, but highlight favorites include their mouth-watering burritos and flavorful quesadillas. Customers like Santiago Patiño and Gio C have raved about the fall-off-the-bone tender ribs, soaked in a sweet and smoky BBQ sauce, and the delectable nacho dip that leaves you craving more. Each dish is robust in flavor, giving you a taste of Guadalajara, the city after which the restaurant is named.
If you're a fan of drinks, don't miss out on their signature margaritas—strong and authentically Mexican—as well as the hot sauce that has made quite a buzz among regulars. Jeffrey Simmons highlights that while hot sauce is not readily available, you can simply ask for it, and it’s worth every drop. However, a friendly reminder: bring cash, as Guadalajarra currently does not accept credit cards.
The level of care and attention provided by the friendly owners adds a personal touch that enhances your overall dining experience, echoing the sentiments of many satisfied customers, such as Binh Bui and Nika Comet. Their commitment to service shines through, making every visit to Guadalajarra memorable.
Whether you're a local or just passing through, be sure to make Guadalajarra a part of your culinary journey. This lovely establishment is not just about good food; it’s about the joy of gathering, savoring every bite, and enjoying the little things in life. Come for the food, stay for the experience!
“ We LOVED the place, the food and the super friendly owners!!! A pleasure ”
“ Great place. It's private and comfy. The attention was amazing, and we even got live music with an outstanding local band (Calle Vaga). I'll recommend and return to this place. ”
“ Cozy spot with excellent food, great service, and good music. Walking down its entrance from the sidewalk you're transported to a warm and welcoming outdoor seating area under large trees. The nacho dip was deliciously made. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender with a sweet and smoky bbq sauce. The tacos were flavorful. The menu stated there was craft beer but when ordering found that due to the situation in Colombia at the moment, no craft beer had been delivered. The service was on point and everything made it to the table in a timely fashion. Overall great experience and would recommend anyone in the area make a stop at Guadalajarra. Ask for their hot sauce. Never tasted something like it. A smokey delight! ”
“ Really cool place, definitely worth coming. Food is close to Guadalajara (the city). Chill and relaxed. Margarita was strong, very Mexican. Decor and music choice is Mexican and 90s soft rock. The girl is not included, get your own she says. ”
“ Went twice to this restaurant for burritos and quesadilla. Both meals were very good. They don’t offer hot sauce unless you request it. It’s a Mexican/Colombian fusion style. Could use a heater in the place due to its cold climate. Had to eat with jackets on. They do not accept Visa or credit cards. Bring cash. ”
“ An absolute must visit if you're in Santa Elena! It beats any Mexican food I've had in Medellín and the atmosphere of the spot was great! Black Sabbath and burritos is always 5⭐ worthy in my books ”
